Join me with The Red Devils supporting Lynn's Breast Friends

On Friday, May 6th, I underwent surgery to remove a cancerous mass from my left breast. I'm happy to say, that I'm home recovering and have been told that I am now cancer free(yeah).

Many of you have asked what can I do for you? Are you still racing? As a result, I have compiled a list:

1. Ladies, get your regular mammograms. My tumor was found early because it was found on my mammogram before it could be felt through a self -exam. The technology we have today is so amazing that mammograms can catch things before we can feel them.

2. I am still racing. The next two are the Red Devils( See item 3) and the Spartan Race with Rachel Levitt and Ben Richard on July 16th. As a matter of fact, our team needs one more person. So if anyone is interested in joining us, please let us know. We are going to have a blast and the Spartan people are letting us make any modifications to the alternate obstacles that we want. How can you resist that?

3. Join me by clicking the link to join me, led by awesome and inspiring team captain Lynn Baklor on June 12th to support the Red Devils. Since it is unlikely that I will be cleared for running by then, I will be doing the 5k walk.

Every year in Maryland more than 4,000 people are newly diagnosed with breast cancer. For many of those families, the economic and emotional worries accompanying the diagnosis can be too much to bear. That's where The Red Devils comes in. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families and they do just that each and every day.

As of today, we have 3 members of our team, who are fellow breast cancer survivors.

4. Don't want to walk, you can also donate via the link below.

I also want to thank all the wonderful people who have helped me in the two months. My amazing husband Jeffrey M. Levitt who is the best hubby in the whole world. The ever competent Michele A. Shermak who calmed me down when I first got my diagnosis and let me know that my cancer was "nothing" . My ready to do anything mother Frances Lehrfeld who stayed with me and helped out. My children Rachel Levitt and Sam Levitt who have been there for me and doing chores around the house without complaints.

For those saying, Eileen, didnít you just have surgery for that kidney thing like 6 months ago? My answer to you is no, it was 5 months ago. Life happens, we get over it, fix it, move on and continue to see how we can contribute to society and make a difference.
